Mortgage servicing · Ecosystem mapping and cross-product prioritization
The question
How can separate product service lines reason about the experience they collectively produce?
The work
Mortgage servicing reaches across customer needs, operational activity, and organizational ownership. A useful account of the service has to connect those views.
I led ecosystem-mapping work that became a basis for knowledge management and prioritization across multiple product service lines. The work provided a common way to represent the servicing environment and relate individual initiatives to the larger experience.
The judgment
The purpose of the map was to support decisions. It needed to be broad enough to connect the work and specific enough to be useful to the people responsible for it.
That is the practical tension in systems work: an exhaustive representation can become difficult to use, while an oversimplified one can leave out the relationships that matter.
The value of this work lay in providing a shared frame in which product service lines could locate their work and consider priorities together.
The result
The mapping became a basis for shared knowledge and prioritization across those lines. The consequence I can describe is its use in organizing and discussing the work.
Contribution and result
| Field | Account |
|---|---|
| My contribution | Leadership of servicing ecosystem mapping. |
| Observable consequence | Use as a basis for knowledge management and prioritization across multiple product service lines. |
| Basis | My firsthand account of the mapping and its organizational use. |
| Scope | Organizational use. Downstream financial and customer effects are outside this account. |
What I carry forward
A useful systems model changes the conversation people can have about their work. Its completeness matters less than whether the right relationships become visible and usable.
Project descriptions focus on my role and the contribution I can describe publicly. Confidential materials are omitted. Illustrations identified as reconstructions explain an idea; they are not original project deliverables.
